By brad | Mercedes-Benz Recalls | 0 comment | 24 July, 2017 | 0

Product descriptionRecall Campaign: 3035

What are the defects? The bushing or the universal joint spider may detach from its seat.

In addition, a tear may happen in the weld between the propeller shaft and the propeller shaft head as this weld is located at the highest stressed area.

What are the hazards? If the bushing or universal joint spider detaches from its seat, fragments of the propeller shaft may exit the periphery of the vehicle causing a potential hazard for road users.

If the weld tears between the propeller shaft and the propeller shaft head, the propeller shaft can damage or destroy the surroundings with air lines and cable sets resulting in the loss of components and causing a potential hazard for road users.

What should consumers do?Owners are requested to contact an Authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer www.mercedes-benz.com.au/trucks to make a convenient booking and have the work carried out free of charge.

What are the defects?Defective steering shafts may have been installed in certain vehicles. These steering shafts may have insufficient tooth flank depth in the serrations for the required power transmission between steering column and steering shaft.

What are the hazards? This may result in the connection between steering column and steering shaft slipping, impairing vehicle steerability, increasing the risk of accident.

Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd — Econic 956 Trucks

By brad | Mercedes-Benz Recalls | 0 comment | 20 July, 2017 | 0

What are the defects? In specific Econic 956 models used as refuse vehicles, the steel cables of the seat belt anchor, installed between the raised centre seat and the co-driver's seat, may be deformed by more than 90 degrees (contrary to the original specification) as a result of the continual getting in and out of the vehicle.

What are the hazards? This may cause fractures of individual steel braids on the seat belt anchor. As the required tension force is no longer achieved as a result of individual, fractured steel braids on the seat belt anchor, the seat belt restraint function may no longer be sufficient.

What should consumers do?Owners are requested to contact an Authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealership to arrange to have the vehicle repaired.
